Admissions for regular day programs

Thank you for considering Champlain – St. Lawrence in Quebec City for your college studies! St. Lawrence is a public CEGEP, costing no more than other CEGEPs in the Quebec City region, but offering the opportunity of studying in English.

Our admissions are processed directly at St. Lawrence. St. Lawrence is not a member of the Service régional d'admission au collégial de Québec (SRACQ). You must apply directly to St. Lawrence, as explained below, but that allows you to apply to St. Lawrence and another CEGEP before making your final decision.

You can attend our Open House or visit classes with a current St. Lawrence student in the program of your choice. The individualized visit can be set up by simply registering for the Student-For-A-Day activity. We will do the rest.

In addition, if you would like to make a more gradual transition to college studies, we can provide you with a reduced course load over more semesters, direct you to complementary courses that will help you explore your options and arrange for you to attend helpful workshops. If you are accepted to the college and are interested in this type of transition, please contact our Academic Advisor.

We also offer a growing number of programs and courses through Continuing Education.

Please note that admissions for the first round are now over. We hope to send answers for these applicants during the first week of April.

The Admissions portal will remain open for a second round of admissions, and late applicants need to pay a $25 late application fee.

There are three steps to apply for one of our regular day programs.

1. Complete the Online Application Form before the following deadlines:

  • March 1 for the fall semester beginning in August (our application system is open from mid-January to March 1)
  • November 1 for the winter semester beginning in January (our application system is open from mid-September to November 1)

Late applications will only be considered after we have processed all applications received on time, and then only if spaces are still available. Offers of admission are normally sent in early April for the fall semester and early December for the winter semester.

2. Complete the English Test Form if you are graduating from a French high school.

Complete the form even if you are applying for an exemption (which you can do directly on the form). The one-hour test allows us to ensure you are ready for college studies in English. It is normally written on-campus, but you may contact the Admissions Office if this poses a problem due to distance. The form covers the criteria for exemptions from the test, choice of dates and costs. We will contact you to confirm an exemption or a date once we receive your English Test Form. It is possible to write the test before you have completed the Online Application Form in step 1.

Please note that we have added two more dates on which the English test can be written:  Wednesday, March 13  at 7 pm and Saturday, March 16 at 1 pm.  To register for these dates, please email Betty Ableson, bettya@slc.qc.ca.

3. Mail or bring the required documents and payment by the date indicated on your application confirmation to:

Payments may be made by cheque or money-order (payable to Champlain Regional College), or by cash, debit card or credit card if you come to the campus during office hours.

Unless we request otherwise, you should send the following:

  1. A copy of your latest available high school Secondary V results
  2. A copy of your latest provincial results from the Ministry (Achievement Record/Relevé des apprentissages)
  3. The $30 Application Fee (non-refundable)
  4. A copy of your birth certificate with parents' names (please do not send originals)
  5. For students who will not have graduated from an English high school, please include a copy of your English Test Form and the $30 English Test Fee (non-refundable unless you are granted an exemption)
  6. For students born in another province, please include a copy of a valid Québec Health Insurance card for one of your parents
  7. For students born in another country and who are now a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, please include copy of a valid Québec Health Insurance card for one of your parents and a copy of your Canadian Citizenship Certificate and/or Certificat de sélection du Québec (C.S.Q.) or IMM 1000 or 5292 (Government of Canada)

Unless we request otherwise, you should send the following:

  1. A copy of your final high school Secondary V results
  2. A copy of your final provincial results from the Ministry (Achievement Record/Relevé des apprentissages)
  3. A copy of your CEGEP transcript (Bulletin d’études collégiales) and a list of any CEGEP courses you are currently taking, if applicable
  4. The $30 Application Fee (non-refundable)

  6. For students who have not graduated from an English high school or CEGEP, please include a copy of your English Test Form and the $30 English Test Fee (non-refundable unless you are granted an exemption)
  7. For students born in another province, please include a copy of a valid Québec Health Insurance card for one of your parents
  8. For students born in another country and who are now a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, please include copy of a valid Québec Health Insurance card for one of your parents and a copy of your Canadian Citizenship Certificate and/or Certificat de sélection du Québec (C.S.Q.) or IMM 1000 or 5292 (Government of Canada)

If you are from a high school in a province other than Québec, you can apply to St. Lawrence if you are in good academic standing and have the required program pre-requisites. You must have completed or be in the process of completing one of the following:

  1. Alberta Grade 11 (67-100 credits)
  2. British Columbia Grade 11
  3. Manitoba Grade 11 (minimum 13 credits)
  4. New Brunswick Grade 11 (minimum 12 credits)
  5. Newfoundland Grade 11 (minimum 24 credits)
  6. Nova Scotia Grade 11 (minimum 12 credits)
  7. Ontario Secondary School Diploma Grade 11 (minimum 22 credits)
  8. Prince Edward Island Grade 11 (minimum 12 credits)
  9. Saskatchewan Grade 11 (minimum 16 credits)

Unless we request otherwise, you should send the following:

  1. A mid-term report of courses in progress (if applicable)
  2. An official transcript with your final high school results or the grades from the previous year (depending on your situation)
  3. The $30 Application Fee (non-refundable)
  4. A copy of your birth certificate with parents' names (please do not send originals)
  5. For students who will not have graduated from an English high school, please include a copy of your English Test Form and the $30 English Test Fee (non-refundable unless you are granted an exemption)
  6. A $65 Transcript Evaluation Fee (non-refundable) to have your academic background evaluated by an outside agency, SRACQ (but cheques or money orders should still be made payable to Champlain Regional College)
  7. For students who are applying for the Social Science Program or the P.W. Sims Business Program, please include course descriptions of Mathematics courses taken in Grades 10, 11 or 12
  8. For students who are applying for the Science Program, please include course descriptions of Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics courses taken in Grades 10, 11 or 12
  9. For students born in another country and who are now a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, please include a copy of your Canadian Citizenship Certificate and/or Certificat de sélection du Québec (C.S.Q.) or IMM 1000 or 5292 (Government of Canada)

Prior to the start of the semester, please note that Canadian students who are not deemed to be residents of Québec will be required to pay additional fees of $1,508 per semester under Québec law (subject to change without notice).

If you are from a high school outside of Canada, you can apply to St. Lawrence if you are in good academic standing and have the required program pre-requisites.

Unless we request otherwise, you should send the following:

  6. A $65 Foreign Transcript Evaluation Fee (non-refundable) to have your academic background evaluated by an outside agency, SRACQ (but cheques or money orders should still be made payable to Champlain Regional College)
  7. A Certificat d’acceptation du Québec (C.A.Q.) or a Certificat de sélection du Québec (C.S.Q.), which must be obtained from the Ministère de l’immigration de la diversité et de l’inclusion of the Province of Québec by the beginning of the semester.
  8. A Study Permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada and, if applicable, a Student Visa from the Government of Canada (or other legal immigration document) which is valid for the entire academic year for which you are applying and must be obtained by the beginning of the semester.

Prior to the start of the semester, please note that foreign students must provide proof of enrollment in a comprehensive health and accident insurance plan, and will also be required to pay additional fees of $6,180 per semester under Québec law (subject to change without notice).
